About Us

We work closely with the students, the academics and the industry to ensure that CESS offers the best it can to its members.

As one of the first engineering clubs to be started, since 1989 CESS has been an active and prolific part of the Civil Engineering experience at QUT, providing opportunities to network and interact with real-world Civil Engineers as well as fantastic social events to connect with other QUT students.

Originally named 'Civil Engineering Social Society', the club has recently undergone a rebranding phase which included a name change to the now known 'Civil Engineering Student Society’ at QUT. While subtle, this change highlights a significant change in CESS goals and values.

The social events held by CESS were and still remain to be the best on campus. We offer pub crawls, boat cruises, karaoke nights, barefoot bowls and more to keep up the spirit during those hard semesters, but recently we've expanded to include academic workshops and industry networking events.
