As one of the first university engineering clubs to be founded in Queensland, since 1989 CESS has been an active and prolific part of the Civil Engineering experience at QUT, providing opportunities to network and interact with real-world civil engineers as well as fantastic social events to connect with other QUT students.

Our Goals

Our goal as a club is the continued engagement and support of all students within the civil engineering field via the provision of academic, industry, and social activities within the community inside and outside of the Queensland University of technology.

Part of this is supporting students in their process of gaining valuable industry and work experience, thus allowing for better equipped graduates. From meeting our valuable sponsors at networking events to learning more about what the industry has in store for our members as young engineers, we aim to set up our members for an amazing career in the civil engineering space.

We strive to help every civil engineer at QUT get their WIL with the help of our academic and industry events.

What We've Achieved

  • We were part of the very successful QUT Engineering Ball

  • We bridge the gap between industry and academia by hosting two major networking evenings throughout the year

  • We make sure our members connected with their peers by hosting a number of social events
